18 Places To Search for the Perfect Home

Hunting for the perfect home, can be stressful, crazy, and honestly, tiring. When we first got started five years ago, the only place I knew to look for our next home was Craigslist.

The truth is there are TONS of places to look for your next perfect home and as a landlord I have found that the more places you list your house, the bigger the audience you will reach. This is even more true as a potential tenant especially if you are in a very competitive area.

18 Places to Search for the Perfect Home

Here are 18 places to look for your next dream home. If it was me I would look at ALL of them. While you will find that some overlap, there are still plenty of “hidden gems.”

Find Your Perfect Home:

Websites

  • Zillow
  • Trulia
  • Ahrn
  • Postlets
  • Military by Owner
  • Military Town Advisor
  • Craigslist
  • Hotpads
  • Bookoo
  • Rental

Military Only

  • Homes.mil

Facebook Groups

  • Pcsing Spouses
  • Oh the Places We Live
  • Navy Family Home Search
  • Military Home Search
  • Navy Family Home Search
  • Military Home Connection
  • Navy Home Search
  • Greater Alexandria Military Spouse

Other hidden gems are local Facebook groups and buy, sell, and trade sites. While I only have one listed above, (Greater Alexandria Military Spouse group), most areas have a local group that you can join and ask your questions even if it is just a yard sale or other type of group.

Don’t forget to ask on your larger groups too! I know there is a group just for my husband’s speciality in the military and while it is just a general group, these amazing spouses tend to have lived there in places long before us. These people can be an amazing source of information and some of them (like ME!) are even landlords. They might have a house for sale or even know of a friend who has a house that will soon be available.

Remember: the more you ask, the more inventory you will find. This is particularly important if you have to be picky for a specific reason or are in a highly competitive area.

Did I miss any groups? Happy hunting!
